So a little while ago, one of my good friends, Amanda, got involved with One Life Revolution. She held a concert to raise money for this organization that sends it all to help with relief from AIDS in Africa.

Now I was just thinking "Wow, I wish I was capable of doing something like that... getting people together and raising money for a really good cause..." Don't we all kinda feel that way sometimes?
Well, now, I have a chance of my own. And hopefully, with a lot of prayer, and some good planning, I can help raise money for One Life Revolution as well.

I've almost got everything planned; I'm working with one of my teachers, and I'm going to have people at my school sign up to raise money. So, prayers would be much appreciated. And if you would like to contribute, just let me know.

Every $17 that is raised will support one child affected by AIDS for an entire year... That's pretty awesome if you ask me.
It will pay for things they need most like:
  • food, health care, and other basic needs
  • Schooling and a chance to learn job skills
  • Visits from caring counselors
  • Life-skills training and education based on  principles found in the the Bible to help prevent the spread of HIV
How much do I spend on myself in a year... Quite a lot more than $17...

Wow, my life has become more and more complicated lately. I have been so busy, something that didn't used to happen...

I think I need to learn to let go....

Friday, December 22, 2006

Ahhh! It's only a little more than a day before I leave, this is so intense!
I don't feel ready yet. Not even close.

......................................................

I'm going to miss Christmas in GR. It'll be sad not to wake up on Christmas morning and go to church with my family.
This year I won't be able to see most of them on Christmas.

......................................................

Oh well, a Christmas spent in Peru is worth it. Completely.

......................................................

I am going to take a ton of pictures, and maybe I'll post them when I get back.
...So I have so much to do tomorrow (finish packing, go shopping, go to the library, procrastinate about forgetting something which I always do, etc, etc...)

......................................................

Everyone have a great Christmas! and a Happy new year, and I'll be back on the fifth!

So I'm getting so sick of indifference at GRCH.... I know that not everyone is, but it seems so dumb that we can be walking around school with our sweet new cell phones and ipods....... What the CRAP? How can anyone care so much about things like that when they can get a non-expensive phone (if they actually need one at all) and spend that extra cash on people who actually need it. Who don't even know when the next time their going to eat will be.

That my friends is one reason that I am putting together a fund raiser with the help of Mr Kuiper... I know that most GRCH students have at least something that they can give... I will be very upset if I don't see something come out of this. Am I asking too much? Is it too much to ask that people give a small amount that will go so far? Everyone has heard those depressing statistics about children in Africa effected by AIDS.... I shouldn't have to remind them constantly that those kids don't have luxuries... they don't even have their basic needs met....

Ugh! you do only have one life. Make something out of it instead of just sitting on your butt!!! That's what I'm sick of... It's not going to stay that way with me...
